MILL CREEK — Farmers markets have sprung up all around this city.
There’s a farmers market just north in Everett and to the south in Bothell. Earlier this month, Mountlake Terrace added its own.
Some residents say it might be time for this city of 18,500 to have one, too.
Mill Creek Conversations, a group of residents who recently began meeting to talk about local and international issues, will hold a farmers market forum from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 3 at City Hall, 15728 Main St.
“A lot of people are interested in making Mill Creek more sustainable,” said Selma Bonham, 84, a member of the group and a Mill Creek Library volunteer. “We go to Everett or Mountlake Terrace for things, but we want to have more things right here in Mill Creek.”
Scheduled panelists at the event include Chris Curtis, director of the Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance in Seattle; Jackie Aitchison, executive director of the Washington State Farmers Market Association; and Joanie McIntyre, a farmer with Rents Due Ranch, an organic farm in Stanwood.
