EVERETT – From a distance, Bette Midler looks like a great performer.
She’ll look even better up close when she performs at the Everett Events Center in December.
Arena officials won’t confirm it, but the four-time Grammy award winner is expected to bring her “Kiss My Brass!” tour to Everett on Dec. 7, according to KSA Public Relations, which detailed 31 new dates starting on Sept. 30.
The show is listed on numerous concert and entertainment Web sites.
“We’re excited about the rumors,” said Everett Events Center spokesman Eric Blankenship. “But at this time, it’s very premature. Nothing’s been confirmed.”
The first leg of Midler’s tour, which ended in March, was one of the nation’s top-grossing shows of the year, bringing in about $40 million. It stopped at Seattle’s KeyArena and Portland’s Rose Garden in February.
Everett will be the only host in the area this time around, sandwiched between shows in Northern California and Denver. The new 31-date tour also includes four nights at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Midler’s show is the second big-name act reported to be coming to the events center, which is working to draw more top performers.
An Oct. 23 show featuring Hall and Oates, Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers and the Average White Band was reported last month. Blankenship said that date, too, has yet to be confirmed.
“Kiss My Brass!” is considered Midler’s biggest and most theatrical show to date. It features the songs and characters that made her famous, including “The Rose,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Wind Beneath My Wings” and selected tunes from her recent release, “Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook.”
Midler, 58, has sold more than 14 million albums during her career. Since releasing her first album, “The Divine Miss M” in 1972, she has earned a combined total of 25 gold, platinum and multiplatinum certifications for her albums and singles, including “Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook,” which has been certified gold for reaching 500,000 sales.
