MARBLEMOUNT — An Everett hiker missing for three days in the North Cascades was found safe this afternoon.
Rangers on Saturday set out looking for 22-year-old Mark Albrecht, who hadn’t returned from a hiking trip to the North Cascades National Park. His trip was supposed to end Wednesday.
A ranger spotted Albrecht around 3 p.m. at the top of a trail head, spokeswoman Kerry Olson said. “He is healthy, other than being cold and hungry,” she said.
Albrecht’s car was found at a trail head on Friday, thanks to an overnight backcountry camping permit. “We didn’t know where to look for him, so we were looking everywhere,” Olson said.
The camping permit allowed rescuers to narrow down the general area where Albrecht went, she said.
Rangers on Saturday searched the ground in the Cascade Pass area. Low clouds and poor visibility prevented officials from using helicopters.
“We are happy he made it back safely,” Olson said.
