Missing Everett woman found safe in wooded park

EVERETT – A 43-year-old Snohomish County woman was found unharmed in an Everett park Monday morning, five days after she walked away from the Lake Hill Motel near Lynnwood.

A park ranger at the heavily wooded Forest Park in southwest Everett discovered Debra Christine Somerville at about 9 a.m. Monday morning, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen.

It now appears the woman left the motel, where she worked, because she was upset, Jorgensen said. There was no sign of foul play, according to the sheriff’s office.

"She appeared to be despondent over personal matters," Jorgensen said.

Somerville was reunited with her fiance and father and returned home, Jorgensen said.

Police had feared the woman had fallen victim to a crime, particularly because she left the motel, ostensibly to go to a bank two blocks away, without her purse, Jorgensen said.

"Our major crimes unit spent a great deal of time on this," she said.

Hunt is on for missing woman: Bothell police are investigating the disappearance of a 34-year-old Bothell woman last seen June 9 by a co-worker.

Kim Marie Wheeler was seen driving toward Bothell on Highway 9 in a blue 1986 Ford Taurus station wagon, according to police.

Wheeler, mother of two young children, was reported missing by her mother, said police spokesman Elmer Brown.

According to the mother, her daughter was in stable mental condition and had no drug or alcohol problems, Brown said.

Wheeler is described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with blond hair and blue eyes. She has a tattoo on her ankle. She was wearing a green jacket and possibly had on gold earrings, according to police.
