BELLINGHAM — A search and rescue mission is under way in North Cascades National Park this morning to find a 31-year-old Seattle woman who has been missing since a weekend hiking trip.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office reported finding Mary Hyde Wingfield’s car Tuesday night at the Diablo dam trailhead near Highway 20 and searched the Stetattle Creek Trail area until 2:30 this morning.
National Park Service officials and Whatcom and Skagit counties resumed the search at 7 a.m. in the Stetattle Creek and surrounding trail systems.
The woman who told friends she was going hiking near Darrington and hasn’t been heard from for days. Seattle police and Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies searched for her vehicle on Wednesday.
