MONROE — A family escaped from their burning home early Monday after one of the occupants noticed the light of flames on the snow outside.
The fire broke out just after 1 a.m. at a home in the area of Park Place and 159th Street SE. Nobody was injured. Working smoke alarms were sounding as the family escaped.
The fire appears to have been sparked by the thermostat from a heater used to keep two of the family’s puppies warm.
The pets were still missing early Monday.
