Monroe Kiwanis set garage sale for June 23, 24

Monroe Kiwanis Club is planning a community garage sale for June 22 and 23.

Spaces are available to rent for one or both days with proceeds going to the Kiwanis club’s scholarship fund.

‘Walk a Mile’ fundraiser coming to Alderwood

The Salvation Army and the Snohomish County Center for Battered Women have scheduled a fundraising event, “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes,” set for 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 11 inside the Alderwood mall.

Those interested in participating are asked to put together teams of four people to walk a mile, acknowledging the challenges facing many families and individuals who live in Snohomish County.

Marysville Strawberry Festival needs talent

The 2007 Marysville Strawberry Festival talent show organizers are looking for people of all ages to participate in the event set for June 14.

The deadline to apply to be in the talent show is May 11. Application forms are available online at www.maryfest.com. More information is available by calling 360-653-6584.

Singers, dancers, actors, comedians, musicians and others are invited to auditions set for May 21 and 22 in Marysville.

Center needs volunteers for upcoming festival

The Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center is looking for volunteers to help organize its ninth annual Youth Arts Festival.

Craft bazaar to support senior activities

Snohomish Seniors, a nonprofit group, plans to hold a Spring Craft Bazaar to raise funds for its senior support programs.

The event is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 11 and 12 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 913 Second St., Snohomish.

Handcrafted items, yard art, crochet and home decorations will be displayed by vendors. Proceeds from the event will be used to support Senior Services.

Volunteers to pamper homeless women

“Queen – It’s a New Day,” an event to help boost homeless women’s self-esteem, is set from 12:30 to 6 p.m. April 30 at the Embassy Suites, 20610 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

Volunteer hair stylists, facial artists and personal shopping companions will assist about 200 women from King, Snohomish and Skagit County shelters and provide them a beauty makeovers.

Volunteers and donations are still needed. People who want to be involved can show up at the volunteer meeting at 11:30 a.m. April 30 with black-and-white attires. For more information, call Life Changes Ministry at 425-252-6484, ext. 102.

Church hosts blood drive at CAREfest

Snohomish Community church plans to hold a blood drive for the Puget Sound Blood Center during its CAREfest, an annual faith-based community outreach event.

The blood drive is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, 13622 Dubuque Road, Snohomish.
