GOLD BAR – Two Monroe men were injured Monday night in a head-on collision on U.S. 2.
Clifford J. Foss, 24, was in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on this morning.
Another man, Lance C. Ligtenberg, also 24, remained at the hospital in satisfactory condition.
Ligtenberg was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee westbound on U.S. 2 at Milepost 27 at 7:43 p.m. Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
His Jeep went into the eastbound lanes and collided with a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick
driven by Foss, according to police.
The Jeep came to rest in the eastbound lanes and then was struck by 2001 Ford Focus driven by Steven McIntosh, 51, of Gold Bar. Police reported that McIntosh did not suffer serious injuries.
The accident closed the highway from about 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., police said.
