The Monroe Arts Council recently formed the Monroe Community Concert Band, which is open to all interested musicians in the Monroe area.
The band’s mission is to provide the opportunity for brass, wind and percussion instrumentalists to continue their involvement in music.

Edmonds sets bridge marathon
Edmonds residents will host a bridge marathon in the coming months to raise money for the Carol Rowe Memorial Food Bank in Edmonds.
The event begins next month and runs until May 2005.
Each two-person team will be assigned to a group of eight pairs, in round-robin fashion. Each pair will play the other pairs in its group once a month. The $10 entry fees goes to the food bank donation.

Snohomish reunion nets seniors $140
Snohomish Valley Ice Cream held its “Scooper Reunion” on Aug. 28.
With the help of former employees Brenda Fodge, Jessica Loreen and owners Pam and Randy Spoo, the Snohomish Seniors received a check for $140 that will go toward programs and services at the Snohomish Senior Center.
Central Everett Lions Club names officers
The Everett Central Lions Club recently installed officers for its 85th anniversary year.
Gary Councilman was named president; Ken Beecher, first vice president; Art Ruben, second vice president; Theresa Schaudies, third vice president and secretary; Dick Abrams, treasurer; Lynn Prather, immediate past president; Troy Woodward and Fred Zoeller, one-year term directors; Merry Goshorn and John Patchamatla, two-year term directors; Solly Rubin, tail twister; and Bob Covert, lion tamer.
In other club news, Schaudies was named Lion of the Year and Ruben received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.
