MONROE – The reformatory unit at the Monroe correctional complex has been locked down Thursday, as officials investigated a fight that left three offenders and a correctional officer injured.
The unit that houses about 745 offenders was placed on lockdown at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lockdowns means all inmates have to remain locked in their cells. Officials don’t know when the investigation of the fight is likely to wrap up, said Chad Lewis, a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections.
In the fight on Wednesday, the three offenders sustained cuts and abrasions, and the correctional officer received a shoulder injury. No one was hospitalized.
Since Dec. 15, several fights and other disciplinary issues have been reported at the unit.
