MILL CREEK — More parents are urging the Everett School District to rethink proposed boundary changes for elementary students.
Parents in the Meadows, Silver Crest and other neighborhoods off 35th Avenue SE are worried that switching children from Mill Creek to Penny Creek elementary would make for a dangerous walk to school and put students on a crowded campus as new housing goes in nearby, according to the petition.
Parents in neighboring Northpointe also have asked the district to let their kids stay at Mill Creek Elementary.
Boundary changes, proposed by a committee after six months of work, would move more than 150 students from Mill Creek to Penny Creek when a new elementary opens in 2019.
The superintendent is reviewing the committee’s recommendation before submitting his own to the Everett School Board, which has final say.
