LYNNWOOD – An early morning fire destroyed three businesses at a strip mall along Highway 99.
Patrons at a tavern spotted the blaze about 12:40 a.m. today in the 14000 block of Highway 99. Two men from the tavern attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher. Both were examined for smoke inhalation.
When firefighters arrived flames were shooting through the roof, according to Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to three other businesses in the strip mall. A Korean restaurant, cafe and vacant bookstore were severely damaged.
Investigators from the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office are at the mall trying to determine the cause of the fire.
“At this point it’s too early to say what caused it,” Hynes said.
