EVERETT – A woman accused of beating her 18-month-old son pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault of a child on Thursday in Snohomish County Superior Court.
Melissa Moser, 23, was charged earlier this month after a doctor reported to police that the boy had a skull fracture and was bleeding from the head.
Deputy prosecutor George Appel accused Moser of putting the child in his crib forcefully, smacking him in the mouth and hitting him hard enough to cause the toddler to strike a wall.
The abuse likely happened in April. The boy wasn’t taken to a doctor until the day after he suffered a seizure and began vomiting, deputy prosecutor George Appel said.
The trial is scheduled for Oct. 28.
