SEATTLE — A Camano Island woman remains in serious condition after a crash that killed her two children.
Tanya Canell, 23, is in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The crash was reported at 7:22 a.m. Tuesday along N. Sunrise Boulevard, near Terry’s Corner. Investigators believe icy, foggy conditions were a factor. Canell’s minivan went off the road and struck a tree before catching fire.
The children’s names and genders have not been confirmed by authorities. They are described as 5 months old and 3 years old.
The Washington State Patrol generally does not release the names of child victims, Sgt. Mark Francis said.
The Island County coroner was expected to conduct death investigations. No new information was released by that office Wednesday.
The family also has asked for privacy, according to the hospital.
