BOTHELL — A man on a motorcycle trying to avoid a car that drifted across I-405 died from his injuries after the accident late Sunday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident was reported around 11:30 p.m. on I-405.
David Ames, 50, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he died.
Troopers said an Everett man, 45, fell asleep while driving his 2001 Nissan Maxima northbound on I-405. When his car drifted onto the left shoulder, he over-corrected and crossed three lanes to the right shoulder. His car then went through the guardrail and 25 feet down an embankment.
The man on the motorcycle died when his brakes locked as he was trying to avoid a collision with the car, troopers said.
