GRANITE FALLS — A driver reportedly caused a crash Sunday in Granite Falls, killing a motorcyclist before pepper-spraying a witness and driving away.
The 22-year-old from Lake Stevens was swiftly apprehended.
It all began shortly after 6 p.m.
A motorcycle and two vehicles were circling in a roundabout near Quarry and Burn roads, said trooper Heather Axtman with the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of an SUV reportedly struck the motorcycle, pushing it into a ditch and killing the rider. The motorcyclist was a 29-year-old man from Lake Stevens, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Keith Rogers said. The other car also went into the ditch while trying to avoid that crash.
The SUV driver got out of his vehicle, approached the witness whose car was in the ditch and blasted that person with pepper spray before driving away, Axtman said.
Police stopped him not far from the scene.
The Snohomish County medical examiner is expected to release the identification of the motorcyclist.
