LAKE STEVENS — A Mount Vernon woman is accused of assaulting a deputy with a car and then leading police on a pursuit near Lake Stevens on Tuesday evening.
She was being held Wednesday for investigation of assault and attempting to elude.
The Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy had pulled over the woman about 7:15 p.m. on 123rd Avenue NE, according to the arrest report. The Honda Accord had an expired registration, and there were questions about the license plate tabs.
The deputy and the woman were talking when she reportedly sped off, driving over his foot. The deputy got into his patrol car and started a 12-mile chase. It wound at times along 84th Street NE, Highway 92 and 99th Avenue NE. Speeds reached 80 mph, the report says.
She finally stopped and was detained in the area of Callow Road. She reportedly said she had smoked opiates about 12 hours earlier.
The woman, 31, also had three warrants for her arrest, including one in a forgery case.
