EDMONDS – Exploding peasants, giant house cats and undead roast turkeys.
Sound like the latest video craze?
Kind of. It’s a movie parody about video games being shot today in Edmonds.
Dead Gentlemen Productions, a Tacoma-based film company, will shoot scenes for its new feature-length film “The Gamers: Dorkness Rising” at the old Edmonds High School and on Main Street.
A parody of fantasy films and the adventure gaming community, “Dorkness Rising” is a romp through the world of sword and sorcery, promoters said.
Filming starts at 8 a.m. at old Edmonds High School, 410 Fourth Ave. N.
Main Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues will be closed 7-10 p.m. for filming. Another shooting will take place at 10:30 p.m. in an alley behind the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 Fourth Ave.
The movie is a follow-up to “The Gamers,” viewed by more than 50,000 moviegoers worldwide. The success of that movie, made on a budget of $500, led to funding for its successor.
