MUKILTEO — The Mukilteo Ferry Terminal won’t be closed for a third consecutive weekend as originally planned.
The terminal was closed March 18-20 and Friday, Saturday and Sunday for dock repairs. Another closure was expected this week but the work was completed ahead of schedule Sunday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
“It was our hope from the beginning we would be able to expedite the work but we weren’t sure,” said Marta Coursey, spokeswoman for Washington State Ferries.
Crews replaced mechanical and electrical systems during the closures.
The route carried almost 3.9 million passengers last year and is one of the busiest in the state’s ferry system.
Preservation work at the terminal began in February and is scheduled over the next month during the evenings after the 8:30 p.m. ferry run. The work is not expected to disrupt service.
