Six south Everett schools were locked down for around 35 minutes Monday afternoon after police received reports of an armed man in the area.
The schools, all in the Mukilteo School District, were closed from around 12:35 to 1:10 p.m. at the request of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
The locked-down schools included Mariner High School, the ACES Alternative High School, Voyager and Explorer middle schools, and Olivia Park and Challenger elementary schools.
That action came after a report of an attempted burglary at a shed in the 800 block of 116th Street SW in south Everett, Jorgensen said. Deputies also got information that guns might have been involved.
"Initially it sounded like somebody was chasing someone with guns drawn, and we have not been able to confirm that," she said.
Deputies tried to track suspects with a dog, but were unable to find anyone, she said. Jorgensen didn’t know if anything was missing from the shed.
