MAZAMA — A Mukilteo man reported missing on Tuesday was found dead on Cedar Creek Trail, west of Mazama.
Cory A. Hubbard, 48, came over the North Cascades Highway for a day hike Saturday. When he did not return home or report to work Monday, his family called the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office late Tuesday afternoon, said Sheriff Frank Rogers.
Rogers said volunteers from Aero Methow Rescue in the Methow Valley searched for his vehicle and found it near the Cedar Creek Trailhead, about two miles west of Mazama.
The search crew found Hubbard about 7 p.m. Tuesday, about six miles up the trail, Rogers said.
He said rescuers went in on horseback and brought him out early Wednesday morning. Nothing at the scene indicates foul play, Rogers said. It’s unknown if a medical problem caused his death.
“Hopefully an autopsy will tell us,” Rogers said.
