A Cascadia Community College student is accused of attacking a man he met through Craigslist and stealing the victim’s car.
The Mukilteo man, 22, was charged Friday with first-degree robbery for allegedly stealing a 1997 Acura Integra. He answered an ad posted by a man selling a car. The two met in Everett and the seller allowed the suspect and a friend to test drive the vehicle.
The trio stopped when the suspect asked to see the engine. The victim told police the two men attacked and strangled him until he passed out. When he came to, he saw them driving off in his car, according to court documents.
Investigators found the suspect through the e-mail address he used to communicate with the seller. Police also discovered that the suspect was described as a thief and scam artist on an online discussion board about Acuras.
The man is being held on $250,000 bail.
