A Mukilteo man with a long history of indecent exposure was charged Friday with a felony and three misdemeanors as part of an investigation into allegations that he may have committed hundreds of sex crimes in Snohomish County.
Daniel Ansel Nicholson, 36, has admitted to exposing himself, peeking at a 9-year-old boy in a department store restroom, and becoming sexually excited by placing pornography in public places so it could be found by others, deputy prosecutor Lisa Paul alleged in Snohomish County Superior Court papers.
After being arrested Nov. 9, Nicholson told investigators he has a "sexual addiction" and may have engaged in about 100 acts of voyeurism against children and adults in public restrooms during the past year, Paul alleged. He also allegedly admitted engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior at espresso stands and tanning salons.
"The defendant said that he fantasizes about people of either gender, and that when he rides the bus he looks at each person and engages them sexually in his mind," the prosecutor alleged.
Nicholson, in jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, is now charged with one count of felony voyeurism, two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure and one count of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, a gross misdemeanor. He has prior convictions for indecent exposure and other sex offenses dating back to 1987.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office believes there may be other unreported incidents. They encouraged anyone with information to call the department’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
Nicholson is white, 6 feet 5 inches tall and very thin, weighing about 140 pounds. He has strawberry blond hair and blue eyes.
