Who’s ready for a good old fashioned hoedown?
Well, anyone who wants to eat some barbecue, run in a three-legged race or listen to some live country music.
The St. John Mission Annual Hoedown and Silent Auction is set for today in Mukilteo and includes all that and more.
Besides three-legged races, the children’s games include sack races, a hay dive, egg toss, water balloons and possibly face painting.
The live music is delivered by The Classmates, who play country, folk, gospel, rock, Irish tunes and holiday classics.
The musicians are Bill Barnes, lead singer and guitarist; John Bange, guitar and banjo and backup vocals; Larry Fahey, guitar and vocals; and female vocalist, Tani Erickson, who joined the Classmates in 2009 as singer and tambourine and kazoo player, according to press material about the event.
Their repertoire includes several hundred songs such as “Side by Side,” “Moonlight Bay,” “My Little Margie” and “You Are My Sunshine.”
The Men’s Club is cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs, with salads, soft drinks and desserts provided by the Women’s Guild.
The silent auction items include hotel stays, gift and dining certificates from merchants such as Ivar’s in Mukilteo, the Silver Cloud Motel, Traxx Racing, Mukilteo Chocolate Company, Tin Fish, Diamond Knot Brewery &Pizza, The Copper Comb Salon, Mukilteo Lodge Sports Grill and Spiro’s Pizza.
The hoedown and silent auction is from 3 to 6 p.m. at St John Mission Church, 829 Third St., Mukilteo.
