MUKILTEO — The gun held backward was his downfall.
A Mukilteo teenager reportedly was armed when he robbed the Harbour Pointe AMPM last week.
An employee wrestled him to the ground early Wednesday morning and held him until police arrived, according to the arrest report.
The weapon later was determined to be a pellet gun that resembled a long-barreled revolver. Police think the 18-year-old also is good for a second robbery.
The AMPM holdup began about 2 a.m. The teen allegedly aimed the gun at the employee and ordered him to open a cash drawer. The teen then gathered the cash in a pillowcase and demanded a second drawer, according to the report.
The suspect was careless with the weapon, “putting it under his arm with the barrel pointing backward,” Cpl. Joe Bredstrand wrote in the report.
The employee “attacked and took the gun from him,” Bredstrand wrote.
A customer who was in the store provided assistance as the suspect tried to flee.
The teen’s weapon and clothing reportedly matched the description of a robbery at the Mukilteo Shell station Tuesday night. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of two counts of first-degree robbery. He was released on $100,000 bond pending court hearings.
