MUKILTEO — A woman who walked away from an adult family home here yesterday was found safe early this morning.
A Mukilteo police officer who was searching for the woman, 74, spotted her about 1 a.m. about a mile outside of the city. She was walking along W. Mukilteo Boulevard near Elm Street, Mukilteo police Cmdr. Chuck Macklin said.
The woman, who suffers from dementia, had been missing for about 11 hours before she was found. Police, firefighters, Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue crews and a helicopter from King County searched for the woman through the night.
“Thankfully it was warmer last night than it has been,” Macklin said. “We’re thankful she was safe.”
The woman wasn’t able to tell police where she had been or what she had been doing, Macklin said.
She was evaluated by firefighters and released to her son and daughter-in-law.
