A man being sought in his girlfriend’s death was captured early Monday at a rest stop just south of Eugene, Ore.
Leogardo Serezo Jr., 22, is being held in Douglas County, Ore. He has been charged with second-degree murder in the death Wednesday of a young woman, Angela Martin, 21, whose body was found in a Lynnwood apartment.
Lynnwood police responded to the apartment in the 5800 block of 200th Street SW, where they forced their way inside after receiving no answer at the door.
Police received a call from an unidentified person who reported that an acquaintance had just said he’d killed his girlfriend.
Serzo was sleeping in his car at the rest stop and was arrested peacefully by a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy, Lynnwood police Cmdr. Paul Watkins said.
Investigators received a tip that led them to find him in Oregon, Watkins said.
"We sent two detectives down to interview him. If all goes well, he’ll be back (today)," Watkins said.
No charges have been filed yet.
Bail on the arrest warrant was set at $250,000.
