RICHLAND — A woman who was employed as a nanny has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a 1-year-old Richland boy who had whiplash-type head and neck injuries.
Police say Kelli Jacobsen was charged Thursday by the Benton County prosecutor and surrendered with her lawyer at the county jail. She was held on $100,000 bail for an initial court appearance.
Jacobsen called 911 on June 22 and said Ryder Morrison had fallen and hit the back of his head. The boy was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland where died of a head injury.
The autopsy found head and neck bleeding normally caused by whiplash and not likely caused by a fall.
