Q: What, if any, is the object of the project at 172nd Street NE and Twin Lakes Avenue (near Smokey Point)? This mess has disrupted traffic in many ways for eight months now, so what’s the deal?
Rebecca Ruhoff, Stanwood
A: Dongho Chang, a state Department of Transportation engineer, said construction is connected to a project called Carroll’s Creek Landing.
This housing project is building 288 townhouses at the north end of 25th Avenue NE and 172nd Street NE, Chang said. Housing is being built for U.S. Navy personnel and their families.
As part of the traffic mitigation plan for the development, turn lanes and street lighting are being built by the contractor. The developer anticipates improvements will be completed by early summer, Chang said.
