MUKILTEO — An observant neighbor helped police find a woman who reportedly stole a package from a front porch in Mukilteo on Friday.
The Langley woman allegedly targeted a home in the 1000 block of Third Street, Mukilteo police officer Myron Travis said. A neighbor had looked outside around 12:45 a.m. and spotted the woman.
The neighbor shared a description of the suspect with 911 dispatchers. Officers found her in the 700 block of Fifth Street.
The woman, 29, was arrested for investigation of theft. She also had a felony warrant, Travis said.
“This is a great example of the importance of our police-community partnership that is so valuable in keeping our community safe,” Mukilteo Police Chief Cheol Kang said.
Homeowners in this area participate in the police department’s neighborhood block watch program. Anyone interested in forming a similar group in their neighborhood can attend a block watch meeting Feb. 23. The gathering is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Avenue.
