Neighbors gather to fight crime

Several cities around Snohomish County plan to participate in the 25th National Night Out, an annual event designed to strengthen communities and fight crime.

The goal of the event is to heighten crime-prevention awareness and build participation in local anti-crime programs, event organizers said.

Many cities are holding events that provide safety demonstrations, children’s activities and free food.

Additionally, some neighborhoods organize their own National Night Out gatherings. For more information, check with local police.

Here’s a list of some of the National Night Out events taking place tonight:

Arlington: 6 to 8 p.m., City Hall, Third Street and Olympic Avenue, 360-403-3400.

Bothell: 6 to 9 p.m., Police Station, 18410 101st Ave. NE, 425-487-5102.

Brier: 6 to 8:30 p.m., Brier Park, 2901 228th St. SW, 425-775-5452.

Everett: 5 to 8 p.m., Top Foods, 1605 SE Everett Mall Way, 425-257-7521.

Granite Falls: 5 to 8 p.m., Red Apple, 115 N. Granite Ave., 360-691-6611.

Lake Stevens: 5 to 9 p.m., North Cove Park and Main Street, 425-397-7433.

Lynnwood: Multiple locations and times, call 425-670-5635 to find a location near you.

Marysville: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave., 360-363-8350.

Monroe: Event canceled.

Mountlake Terrace: 6 to 9 p.m., Civic Center, 58th Avenue and 232nd Street, 425-670-8260.

Mukilteo: 4 to 7 p.m., Mukilteo YMCA, 10601 47th Place W., 425-353-8222.

Snohomish: 4 to 8 p.m., Averill Park, 400 Second St., 360-282-3205.

Snohomish County: 5 to 8 p.m., McCollum Pioneer Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett, 425-388-3460.
