WATERVILLE — Friends and neighbors of a central Washington farmer who died in July got together to harvest his wheat this past week.
The Wenatchee World reported about 60 farmers came to Graydon Painter’s family farm on Sunday to finish what the fourth-generation wheat farmer started.
Friends and neighbors brought 28 combines to harvest 1,300 acres of wheat in five hours on the farm northeast of Waterville.
Painter’s cousin, Tony Long, called the harvest bee a tribute this respected and loved member of the community.
