YAKIMA — The new Eisenhower High School that opened this year in Yakima was dedicated Thursday with student-led tours and a “passing the key ceremony.”
It’s one of the largest high schools in the state and cost about $108 million.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reported the key ceremony has become a tradition in the school district to symbolize the construction process and recognize those involved. At the dedication, the key started with the leaders of the 2009 bond campaign, Paul and Kristy Larson, and was passed through the hands of district officials and educators and ended with the student body president, Greg Sybouts.
