New Orleans police arrested a man Friday in connection with the beating death of an Edmonds businessman.
Thomas Breiwick, 56, was struck on the head Tuesday night and died on the sidewalk not far from the hotel where he was staying, police said.
His wallet and cell phone were missing, leading investigators to believe robbery was the motive.
Friday afternoon, homicide detectives arrested a suspect at a pool hall. Lester "Shorty" Harris, 32, was booked into jail under investigation for first-degree murder.
Investigators said they found a critical piece of evidence that linked Harris to Breiwick, but would not say what was found.
Harris, a convicted felon, was arrested in March 2002 for robbing and assaulting a man.
Breiwick, president of the Seattle-based Pacific Marine Equipment, was attending a boat convention in New Orleans.
