Urban design standards adopted for county
The Snohomish County Council this week adopted new urban residential design standards that will restrict landscaping, density and other features of developments in urban areas.
The new regulations will take effect in March. They include incentives for low-impact developments that reduce runoff, a new limit of nine dwelling units per acre for townhouses and a reduction in the visual impacts of garages.

Eagles plan benefit Valentine dance
The Lynnwood Eagles Club is planning a Valentine’s Day dinner and dance.
Dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at 19223 Highway 99
The dinner choice is prime rib or salmon. Music by Big Ed and his Steel Country Band is planned from 8 p.m. until midnight.
The cost is $20 per person with proceeds to go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Monroe
Get walking
Walk with the new YMCA walking club beginning 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Monroe/Sky Valley YMCA, 14033 Fryelands Blvd. The club will meet every Tuesday and Thursday. If weather permits, the group will walk around Lake Tye. If not, the group will head into the gym for a walk. This is free and open to the community.
