EVERETT — Prosecutors have declined to file charges against an Everett firefighter who was accused of selling antiques taken from a burned-out downtown building.
Everett police investigated the allegations and found no evidence of a crime, city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said Tuesday. Police forwarded the case to Snohomish County prosecutors for review.
The firefighter, 43, has been with the department 19 years, Reardon said. He was put on leave after the allegations were made. He has since returned to work.
An antiques dealer in March alleged that the firefighter was selling items online that were taken from the McCrossen Building on Hewitt Avenue. The historic building was destroyed in a fire in November.
The building was demolished in late March.
The city’s three-sentence press release on the prosecutor’s decision doesn’t delve into the details of the investigation.
The items in question included stoneware pottery and a lamp.
