BOTHELL — Nobody was injured early Wednesday when flames heavily damaged a carport at a Bothell-area home.
Crews from Snohomish County Fire District 7 were summoned at 4 a.m. to a home in the 20200 block of 45th Drive SE. There were flames in the carport and heavy smoke in the home, district spokeswoman Heather Chadwick said in a press release.
The firefighters soon had the fire knocked down and kept it from spreading into the house.
The homeowner had awakened to the smell of smoke and was able to get everyone out safely. When firefighters searched the residence they found and rescued a kitten, Chadwick said.
There was extensive damage to the carport and some smoke damage to the home. The fire’s cause was being investigated by the Snohomish County fire marshal.
