EVERETT — A truck pulling an excavator struck the 128th Street SW overpass on I-5 south of Everett on Saturday morning, causing concrete debris to be scattered over two southbound lanes of I-5.
No one was injured in the accident, but a car’s tire was flatted after running over some of the concrete debris, according to Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary.
The accident occurred about 11 a.m. when a truck pulling a trailer with a medium-sized excavator struck the underside of the overpass. The accident was caused by the excavator being above the legal limit, according to the state patrol.
Crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation checked the overpass and found no structural damage.
The 42-year-old truck driver had just purchased the excavator and was transporting it to Rainier.
