The final piece of the area’s legislative puzzle fell into place earlier tonight with the appointment of Republican Norma Smith of Clinton to the 10th District seat previously held by Chris Strow.
Members of the Snohomish County Council and the Island and Skagit county commissions made the decision at a joint meeting in Everett
Thanks to The Herald Reporter Jeff Switzer for letting me know it was a unanimous vote following interviews with Smith, Joel A. Edmonds of Stanwood and Ed Drum of Oak Harbor.
Smith was sworn in after the vote. She’ll be in place Monday when the Legislature begins its 2008 session.
She is the third addition this week to the delegation of 21 lawmakers with a piece of Snohomish County in their respective district.
On Monday, the Snohomish County Council filled two open Democratic seats by appointing Mukilteo Councilman Marko Liias to succeed Brian Sullivan in the 21st District and Liz Loomis to replace John Lovick in the 44th District.
