EVERETT — Gunfire broke out in downtown Everett on Saturday night after an attempted robbery.
Just before 11 p.m., two men in their 20s walked up to a man in his 30s at the intersection of Hewitt and Rockefeller avenues, Everett Police Department spokesperson Kerby Duncan said. The two men asked the other man about his jewelry. He reportedly believed he was being robbed and told the men to “step off.”
That’s when gunfire began. Nobody was injured.
People called 911 when they overheard the shots being fired. The man in his 30s stayed to talk to first responders when they arrived. The suspects left on foot, Duncan said.
Police recovered over 20 9-millimeter gun shell casings at the scene, Duncan said.
