Arlington: City wins fed stimulus money
Arlington is among the cities set to receive federal Transit Administration funding through the Puget Sound Regional Council.
The city will receive $122,000 to build a pedestrian trail on 188th Street NE from 59th Avenue NE to 67th Avenue NE. This trail eventually will connect the Centennial Trail, which runs on the east side of 67th Avenue NE, to the trail that winds around the Arlington Airport.
The new trail will run by Quake and Evans ballfields and Arlington Skate Park, city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.
Seniors offer car wash, breakfast fundraiser
The Stillaguamish Senior Center offers a community event Saturday to raise money for the center.
The day begins with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. Along with pancakes, the menu includes eggs or biscuits and gravy, sausage or bacon, coffee, and juice. Stilly Crafters plan to sell their wares.
After breakfast, head to car wash at 20909 Olympic Place, where those doing the washing will donate proceeds to the center.

Darrington: Show highlights bridges
Members of the Darrington Historical Society plan to present a program about local bridges, including those on the Mountain Loop Highway and in the Sauk Prairie area.
The presentation, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Darrington Library, 1005 Cascade St., includes photos and historical information about swinging footbridges, shingle-running trestles and spans downed by floods.
People are encouraged to bring their own photos to share.

Stanwood: Benefit for cooperative preschool
Stanwood Cooperative Preschool has set its annual fundraising event for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Stanwood-Camano Fairgrounds on Pioneer Highway, Games, raffles, auctions, entertainment and food are planned.

The Pacific Science Center’s inflatable planetarium is coming to the Stanwood Library from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 9701 271st St. NW. The planetarium allows visitors to explore a variety of astronomy topics. Registration is required.
