Senior center to offer flu shots Wednesday
The Stillaguamish Senior Center plans to offer influenza shots on Wednesday at the center.
The vaccinations are scheduled to be given from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. in the center’s library building, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.
Reservations are requested. Arlington Pharmacy is providing the service, center director Jo Olson said.
There is no charge for the flu shots for those on Medicare Part B, she said.

Arlington choir to begin rehearsals for ‘Messiah’
Singers and instrumentalists are encouraged to join the Arlington Community Choir in its upcoming presentation of Handel’s “Messiah.”
Weekly rehearsals are set for 7:30 to 9 p.m. beginning Monday in the choir room (B-113) at Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
The choir plans to combine with a community orchestra for a performance set for 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in the Byrnes Performing Arts Center at the high school.
The performance has been an every-other-year tradition in Arlington since 1976 and continues to be a highlight of the holiday season, choir director Lyle Forde said.

Downtown group offers holiday open house
The Downtown Arlington Business Association plans to kick off the holiday season with an after-hours open house event, 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at participating shops in downtown Arlington. Treats and entertainment are planned.

Fans of manga, anime to form book group
Arlington Library is sponsoring a Manga Book Group for teens.
The group is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Monday at the library, 135 N. Washington Ave.

Senior center offers new line-dance class
Camano Community and Senior Center plans to offer a new line-dancing class. Lessons are scheduled from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Nov. 4 through 25, at the center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Cost is $20 for center members or $25 for nonmembers.

Art show features materials from nature
A second annual “Artistry in Nature” show is planned for Saturday at the Ken Baxter Senior-Community Center. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the center, in Comeford Park at 514 Delta Ave.
The show features work by students in senior center classes in driftwood and gourd art, woodcarving and watercolors. The event is free.

Two appointments made to planning board
Becky Foster and Eric Emery were recently appointed to the city’s planning commission.
Mayor Dennis Kendall recommended to the City Council that Foster be reappointed to the commission and Emery be appointed for the first time. The council confirmed the appointments on Oct. 13. Commissioners serve six-year terms on a volunteer basis.
Marysville Rotary sets auction for Saturday
Manhattan by Moonlight is the theme of this year’s Marysville Rotary dinner and auction planned for 5 p.m. Saturday at Comcast Arena in Everett. Tickets are $75.

Halloween safe house will be open tonight
The Masonic Hall is set to sponsor a Halloween Safe House tonight.
Volunteers plan to offer cookies, candy and punch and activities for kids of all ages from 6 to 10 p.m. at the hall, 27205 102nd Ave. NW, across the street from the Floyd Norgaard Center in Stanwood.
Haunted maze open tonight, Saturday
Stanwood’s Haunted Maze, with its spooky elevator ride into the darkness, is open 5 to 9 p.m. today and Saturday at the Stanwood Center, 7430 276th St. NW. Admission is $5.

Stanwood Historical Society has scheduled a fundraising Swedish pancake breakfast set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 27130 102nd Ave. NW.
A plate of pancakes or waffles, sausage, juice and coffee is $6. After breakfast, visit the society’s craft far, set to be open until 3 p.m.
