Camano Island
Library celebrates first birthday with a party
Celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Camano Island Library during a party planned Saturday.
The party is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the library, 848 N. Sunrise Blvd. The event is expected to feature music and games.
Unlike other libraries, which are packed with shelves upon shelves of books, the Camano Island Library is smaller. However, it’s stocked with more copies of popular new books and feels more like a bookstore than a library.
The Sno-Isle Library System opened the library as a three-year pilot program to test how successful a smaller, bookstore-style library would be.
It’s been successful so far, library officials said.
