Arlington: Civic boards seats openings
The city of Arlington is looking for volunteers to fill a vacancy on the Arlington Library Board and the high school student position vacancy on the Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission.
The Library Board has five members, each serving a five-year term. Meetings are held quarterly.
The PARCS board has nine members, with two seats reserved for juniors or seniors from Arlington or Lakewood high schools.

Camano Island: Talk on identifying raptors
Learn how to identify the raptors of our region in a class set for 7 tonight at Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 East Camano Dr.
Jim Watson, wildlife research scientist with state Department of Fish and Wildlife, also plans to talk about the habitat needs of eagles, hawks and falcons in Western Washington.
The presentation is part of a public education series hosted by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project and sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks.

Darrington: Economic development meeting
The Darrington Area Business Association is scheduled to meet at 7 tonight at the Cascade Senior Center, 1115 Darrington St. The association has a variety of events planned for the holiday season.

Marysville: Planning commissions to meet
A joint meeting of the Marysville and Arlington planning commissions is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave.
The commissioners plan to talk about a bridge at 156th St. NE and I-5, a town center plan for the same area, the West Arlington Development Plan, and a proposed manufacturing-industrial center in Arlington and Marysville.
Stanwood: Festival poster art needed
The 2012 Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival committee is encouraging local artists to submit work for the annual festival poster contest.
Artists are asked to submit artwork, featuring the snow goose, between 1:30 and 4 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood Chamber of Commerce office, 8725 271st St. NW.
The snow geese have arrived in the Skagit and Stillaguamish valleys and are feeding in local farm fields.
The festival is in February.
