Darrington: Dinner supports fundraiser
The late Holley Ross, a former Darrington school bus driver and fire district commissioner, will be honored this afternoon with a meal at the Darrington Community Center. The meal is offered in between volleyball and football games at Darrington High School. Ross’ daughter-in-law Helen Ross and her friends plan to serve baked potatoes, chili, hot dogs and other food from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. They are asking a minimum $5 donation for the meal.
The money goes to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association for research. Ross and about 30 other Darrington-area residents plan to ride a school bus Saturday to Seattle to participate in the ALS Walk at Seward Park.
To contribute to the cause email Ross at mrscoryross@yahoo.com.
Also at the Darrington football game, former University of Washington coach Jim Lambright plans to be on hand to help coach the town’s 17 football players. Lambright, who played for Everett High School and the UW, plans to give the team a pep talk before the game.
