Arlington: Club recognizes city worker
At its annual luncheon, the Arlington Garden Club honored Bill Blake, the city of Arlington’s natural resources manager.
Blake won the Myrtle Ruckert Award, which is named after a longtime member and is presented to those who make an extraordinary effort to “Keep Arlington Green.”
The garden club also presented the city with two donations: $300 for the new Country Charm Park project; and $200 to support the hanging basket program in Arlington.
Darrington: Business group to meet tonight
The Darrington Area Business Association is set to meet tonight at 7 at the senior center, 1115 Darrington St.

Granite Falls: Summer reading program starts
The Granite Falls Library plans to host “Go Global With Professional Zaniac Alex Zerbe” on Saturday to help kick off summer reading.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the library located at 815 E Galena St.
Zerbe’s show is intended for children ages 12 and younger and includes vegetables launched from a giant slingshot and games from the other side of the planet.

Lake Stevens: Suggest Citizens of the Year
The Greater Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce is looking for nominations for this year’s Citizen and Junior Citizen of the Year awards.
The annual award has been handed out since 1982 to residents with a history of local volunteer service or who have made other contributions to the community. Winners are honored at a chamber luncheon and in the Aquafest Grand Parade, and have their names displayed on a plaque at the Chamber office.
Nomination forms must be returned by June 30 and are available at the Chamber office, Lake Stevens City Hall, Lake Stevens Library and Foster Press.

Marysville: Junk in the Trunk sale
Marysville Parks and Recreation is planning to host the Junk in the Trunk sale on July 9.
Vendors can complete an application for a parking spot in the Marysville Municipal Court lot to sell antiques, vintage, crafts, garage sale and flea market items from their vehicle’s trunk.
The sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cars and trucks cost $25 to register.
