Arlington: Fly-In offers scholarship

The Arlington Fly-In is set to present a scholarship to a young person who wants to learn to fly and use those skills to help others.

The application deadline is July 1.

City golf tournament needs sponsors

A golf tournament to raise money for another Welcome to Arlington sign is set for Aug. 26 at Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington.

Business owners can promote themselves and support the cause by sponsoring holes for $100.

Golfers can sign up any time.

Camano Island: CASA fundraisers

Camano Animal Shelter Association offers a car wash from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Plaza parking lot, 415 S. West Camano Drive.

Proceeds benefit the animal shelter.

Also, a pet food drive is scheduled at the IGA supermarket at the plaza.

Darrington: Audit of district released

The state Auditor’s Office has released its audit of the Darrington School District’s financial books and records from Sept. 1, 2009, through Aug. 31, 2010. The audit found no problems during that time period.

“We are proud of our administrative team and pleased to see that any prior findings have been resolved as noted in the report,” School Board President Julie Kuntz said.

Timberbowl Rodeo starts Saturday

Darrington’s 50th annual Timberbowl Rodeo is set for 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Darrington Horse Owners Association rodeo grounds, off Highway 530, just west of Darrington.

Bull riding, barrel racing and ranch-saddle bronc riding are scheduled.

Admission is $9 or $6 for children, seniors and military personnel.

Marysville: Free resume writing class

The Marysville Goodwill Job Training and Education Center plans to offer a free resume writing class.

The workshop is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the center, 9315 State Ave.

Oso: Art in the Barn show this weekend

Fine arts and crafts are to be shown during the seventh annual Art in the Barn show from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 20412 Highway 530, east of Arlington.

The show is hosted by the Yantis family and the Arlington Arts Council.

Stanwood: Magic from around the world

One World, Many Stories — the Stanwood Library’s summer children’s program — begins at 4 p.m. Saturday with a visit from magician Jeff Evans and his Magic Around the World show.
