Arlington: Family fun day at airport
Arlington’s annual Airport Appreciation Day is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the municipal airport, 18204 59th Dr. NE.
The Young Eagles Program plans to give free airplane rides to children ages 7 to 18 Registration for flights begins at 9 a.m. and parental permission is required. Other activities include emergency vehicle tours and aircraft displays.

Library plans a day of Japanese fun
Children can learn Japanese stories and games, as well as make an origami box to fill with sushi candy. The event begins at 2 p.m. Friday at Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave.

Public hearing set on Trafton school closure
The Arlington School Board will host a public hearing on the possible closure of Trafton Elementary School at 6 p.m. Monday in the multi-purpose room at Presidents Elementary School, 505 E. Third St.
Closing Trafton, a small rural school east of Arlington, is one of several proposals to trim the district’s budget.
Granite Falls: Council to discuss motocross
The City Council is scheduled tonight to discuss plans for a 437-acre motocross park west of the city.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Granite Falls Library, 815 E. Galena St.
The proposed park is located on the north side of Mountain Loop Highway approximately 800 feet east of the intersection of Mountain Loop Highway and Sand Hill Pit Road, about 3 ½ miles east Granite Falls.
Snohomish County officials will decide whether to approve the project. The county Hearing Examiner is scheduled to consider the plan June 7, 8 and 11.

Lakewood: High school stages play
Lakewood High School students will stage a production of “Dilemma With Dinner” from Thursday through Saturday at the school’s theater, 17023 11th Ave. NE. Times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Stanwood: Clean Sweep is Saturday
Residents and business owners in Stanwood plan to join the city’s Operation Clean Sweep on Saturday.
Headquarters for the volunteer cleanup effort is in the former Thrifty Foods parking lot near the Country Store off 271st Street NW in downtown Stanwood. People can pick up their assignments there.
Wear gloves and old clothes and bring a rake.
