Arlington: Register to walk for friendship
Voices of the Village plans to perform rock ‘n’ roll hits from the 1960s through ‘80s at Village Community Services’ annual Friendship Walk set for 1:30 p.m. June 26 at the Legion Memorial Park gazebo, 114 N. Olympic Ave.
The Friendship Walk through downtown Arlington, which raises awareness about the abilities of disabled adults, features prizes, music and snacks for all who participate. All ages are welcome.
Registration is on now at www.VillageCommunitySvcs.org.
Day-of-walk registration begins at noon. Those who donate or raise $25 or more in sponsorships receive a commemorative T-shirt.
Proceeds benefit the Voices of the Village performance ensemble and Village Community Services’ Friday Music and Evening with the Arts events.

Soccer clinic, auction fundraiser set
Kicking Batten’s for Carl is a soccer clinic and silent auction set for Saturday adjacent to the Arlington Boys &Girls Club on 59th Avenue NE.
Carl Bergram, the late son of Jeff and Robin Bergam, suffered from Batten Disease, a neurological disorder that can cause seizures, mental impairment and a progressive loss of sight and motor skills.
The soccer clinic is at 9 a.m. Saturday and the auction starts at 1 p.m. Funds raised will go to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.

Marysville: Breakfast fundraiser at club
The Marysville Kiwanis Club invites the public to a pancake fundraiser for the Marysville Boys &Girls Club on Sunday.
The event is part of the Hog Rally at Sound Harley-Davidson, 16212 Smokey Point Blvd., with the rally raising funds for local food banks.
Breakfast begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $5 for an all-you-can-eat breakfast that includes pancakes, sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee.
Breakfast will be served until sold out.
Marysville Kiwanis will donate proceeds of the breakfast to help furnish the kitchen of the Marysville Boys &Girls Club, which opened last year.

Oak Harbor: Name change for base hall
The original Whidbey Island Naval Air Station command building at the seaplane base is set to be named Simard Hall in a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The building is named in honor of Adm. Cyril T. Simard.
Capt. Gerral David, NAS Whidbey Island commanding officer, and members of the Simard family plan to welcome the public to join them for the official naming ceremony, followed by a narrated historical slide show, refreshments and visit to the command display museum located in the building and operated by the PBY Memorial Foundation.
Simard was a highly decorated naval pilot whose story was told in the 1976 movie “Midway.” Simard led the construction effort for both the Seaplane Base and Ault Field at Oak Harbor.
The base was commissioned on Sept. 21, 1942.
