Arlington: Help kids get new shoes, clothes
Arlington Kids’ Kloset volunteers have a garage sale scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at 135 S. French St., on the ground floor of the building outside Kids’ Kloset.
Proceeds go to the purchase of new socks, underwear and shoes for students from low-income families in the Arlington, Lakewood and Darrington school districts.
Kids’ Kloset provides free clothing twice yearly to students. This school year, the nonprofit organization helped clothe more than 1,100 students.

Granite Falls: Council to discuss fireworks
City officials are considering expanding the hours and days in which fireworks are allowed in the city.
An ordinance is scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of the Granite Falls City Council at 7 tonight at City Hall, 206 S. Granite Ave.
Under the ordinance, fireworks would be allowed from 9 a.m. July 4 until 1 a.m. July 5, and from 9 a.m. Dec. 31 to 2 a.m. Jan. 1.
Currently, fireworks are allowed only between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. July 4.

Marysville: Fill boots to raise charity funds
Marysville firefighters plan to be out collecting Friday and Saturday for their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Firefighters will be at the intersection of State Avenue and Grove Street, asking drivers to drop donations into their boots.
Proceeds raised during the campaign will help support association services and research programs, including transportation, support groups, and local clinics.

Stanwood: Host families needed
People who want to become international friends with Japanese students this summer are asked to consider opening their homes as host families.
Compass International is bringing 22 Japanese young people to the Stanwood- Camano area from July 25 to Aug. 22.
Students go to English classes on weekday mornings, then take trips in the afternoons. People can host for two weeks or four weeks.
